When choosing my TOY story, I wanted to work on a cause with a lasting impact— as well as plant the roots of a platform that could compound in time. What could be more fulfilling than supporting the education and development of a child with bright potential, a kind heart, and a talent that could blossom into a lifelong passion and contribution to society? This is really what Yves wanted deep inside him - to create a lasting impact on society.

My connection with Mavis came about thanks to a friend of my mom. I’ve long been passionate about helping underprivileged children in Singapore (albeit directly rather than through organizations), and when I shared this with my mom, she mentioned—quite casually, back in July 2024—that a friend of a friend had a daughter who was gifted in art but whose family lacked the financial means to nurture her talent. Over the following months, I met with the family and, in October, proposed to Mrs. Soo that I would be honored to support her daughter. She was deeply grateful and warmly accepted.

Mavis is now in Grade 7 and has a profound passion for the arts. I’m sharing with you a painting she created for me, along with a few others she’s made over the past 2 years. She’s a quiet soul; reserved and thoughtful, but her passion speaks volumes. Kids of today are glued to their phones and social media while she draws her imagination away. Through this sponsorship and a bit of guidance, she’s grown tremendously... her confidence, her skill, and her dedication have flourished. I hope you’ll have the chance to meet her one day.

What’s next? I’m excited to continue growing this cause. My goal is to sponsor and guide a bright, passionate child every two years — and eventually (after 5-6 years), every year. The ultimate intention to create a flywheel effect, inviting friends who share this desire to join me, and eventually build a foundation that expands this mission in due time. These are long-term aspirations, and I’m committed to growing this effort humbly and steadily.

Thanks to you and Max for always inspiring me - I wish for you to know that this story is not mine but that of our TOY family. And why I am not surprised? The first kid we have been privileged to grow has a passion in art! :)
